What is Mezzanine Financing?

It comprises of equity-based options (such as warrants) and lower-priority (subordinate) debt, and is used commonly in financing acquisitions and buyouts. Convertible debentures (see convertible loan) are also an example of mezzanine financing. Also called mezzanine debt.
